Janine's nephew says nebanas for bananas - oh how cute! Reminded me of what my youngest Daniel used to say: jamamas instead of pyjamas - ahh!
Anyone else with cute mistakes that you just don't want to ever correct please comment!
Oh and another thing Daniel used to say if he was thirsty was "I'm drinky" - we all still use it now -describes the feeling much better than "I'm thirsty"!

Drama performance of The Donkey's First Christmas
As opposed to doing a story time in competition with Santa, the kids today were riveted! Brian the pastor was a brilliant donkey - hiding behind hay, limping, braying and doing a great job of playing ill. One kid was convinced Janine had a REAL baby in her tum. We mixed drama with singsong and began with 'twinkle twinkle', then half way through - 'Little Donkey', ending up with 'Away in a Manger' - Have never seen the kids so still and attentive - O twas such an amazing day... Thanks to everyone who helped out. and you were a brill owner Rowena!
New e book version out now
The Donkey's First Christmas is now available as a NOOK book.

10 GOOD REASONS TO READ TO YOUR KIDS
You may have tangible wealth untold
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be.
I had a Mother who read to me. Gillilan (1869 - 1954)
Just incase you needed them, here are some excellent reasons to read with your little'ns...
1. When you hold children and give them attention, they know you love them.
2. Reading to children will encourage them to become readers.
3. Children’s books today are so good, they’re fun for adults, too.
4. Illustrations in children’s books rank with the best, giving children a life long feeling for good art.
5. Books are one way of passing on your values.
6. Book will enable a child’s imagination to soar.
7. Until children learn to read themselves. They will think you create magic.
8. Reading together helps develop a child’s attention span.
9. When you give children this gift, you create special memories that last a lifetime.

10. So you can get some peace and quiet when they start enjoying books on their own!

How to get a self published book into Waterstones
You can go through the regular channels - like Gardners (twice), get rejected, Bertrams(twice), get rejected, head office, get rejected... Or, you can go to individual shops to get your book noticed - be very nice to them, as you never know who is writing for The Bookseller - as was the case with me and The Children's Bookshop in Huddersfield....
One very significant mention (http://www.thebookseller.com/news/big-names-set-dominate-childrens-christmas.html) opened up the door for me to approach the big chain again - this time with a much more positive response. Now, though mighty late in the day, they are going to take the book on as a community activity. Although a pretty lengthy process, I have been told, this means that any Waterstones Book Store local to me can take it on if they want to.
Will keep you posted in how it pans out...

Play with Toddlers
Narrated a play at St Mary's Toddler's Group in Upton yesterday - We had the best donkey ever acting out the limping, hiding, coughing and eyor-ing loud bits - the kids were captivated!!
Story reading and book signing at Linghams, Heswall tomorrow 11 am - Wondering if I should try getting the kids to be the donkey or not... hmmm - how chaotic will that be? Competing with Santa for kids attention so I hope they will be interested. Sonja Benster (from Huddersfield Children's Bookshop) said to always wear a spotty top at book readings - best get my only one in the wash before I pick up the kids in this dismal blistery weather!
