How to get a self published book into Waterstones

You can go through the regular channels - like Gardners (twice), get rejected, Bertrams(twice), get rejected, head office, get rejected... Or, you can go to individual shops to get your book noticed - be very nice to them, as you never know who is writing for The Bookseller - as was the case with me and The Children's Bookshop in Huddersfield....

One very significant mention  (http://www.thebookseller.com/news/big-names-set-dominate-childrens-christmas.html) opened up the door for me to approach the big chain again - this time with a much more positive response.  Now, though mighty late in the day, they are going to take the book on as a community activity.  Although a pretty lengthy process, I have been told, this means that any Waterstones Book Store local to me can take it on if they want to.

Will keep you posted in how it pans out...
